It is unfortunate that those gathered covered their tracks so well when they withdrew after the conflict with the Lords of Scar. It leaves the history of the city's founders as a patchwork of fragments and blanks, sewn together by conjecture. Even Helena, effectively Prince for a thousand years, has a slim file.
It is clear Helena has partnered Sir Hugh through the centuries; but in what capacity? She ruled the city over him, but the nature of their relationship has never been hinted at. She was married to another Guy of Foster circa 1500AD but mortal ties and relations must mean little to Kindred of such age, so this tells us little. From her love and promotion of art she can perhaps be classed as a Toreador, generation unknown. From Sir Hugh alluding that she was in the area before him on one occasion, we have to assume a single digit generation. Her epithet the True was a name gifted by Guy, a Frenchman translating De Veraux or similar.
One thing several accounts agree on is that she has had long periods of illness, during which she has taken no part in events. While spending time in torpor is common for ancients, illness is virtually unheard of, and of course speculation over her health was not documented. As such, the nature of her illness is a further mystery.
Her only real activity is in the 1800's, as she is forced to act against the Scar lords. Even this limited action forces her back to torpor for a century. Our only reliable accounts come from after her awakening in 1997, when she encounters contemporary Kindred for the first time. Described as painfully beautiful to look on, she is slim and golden haired, with skin that is pale and flawless. An aura surrounds her, similar to Majesty, radiating serenity as well as great power and, paradoxically, fragility. Quietly spoken and polite, she is far from what one expects of her age and station. She has been seen to employ Auspex, though seemingly not in the way it is used in the modern night her powers again suggest Toreador lineage although none in the clan will confirm it. Her intervention in the Scar conflict is alluded to as great: when she finally did act, it was a turning point in the conflict, but none will say what she actually did. We can theorise that she had some potent ability commensurate with her Elder status and presumably generation but no clues as to what it was are forthcoming.
She has survived to the present but, along with her long term allies, cares little for the scurrying of the rival sects that have inherited her throne. Of all the notables listed, very few surpass her in mystery.
