From a small scale technological company dealing with the distribution of television and communications within Staffordshire and Cheshire, Reed Communications has grown into one of the major competitors in the European market. It’s maxim for growth has always been the same; better, more efficient and available to the masses. Its list of clients reads like a who’s who of commercial, industrial and government concerns.
Reed Communications remains one of the major employers in the area and has always been keen to utilise the local workforce to the best of its ability, providing scholarships and training programs in exchange for promised periods of employment. It has also branched out into the production of its own programming content, no longer concerned with just the distribution of other company’s entertainment.
Only once in its nine years has Reed Communications faced difficulties following its merger with a Singapore owned company and the death of its founder, Julian Scott-Brown. Only the emergency buy out by a group of former investors has brought it back on keel.
Whilst the public is familiar with the face of Reed Communications, behind the scenes it is heavily involved in research into a wide variety of technologies. Some of these make there way into the pubic field, but many are rumoured to have been developed for military applications - a sign of how far this small company has come in less than a decade.
