What more can be said about The Gambinos than has already been said. One of the most successful (and well structured) gangs ever to grace the city, their reputation is second only to their most bitter rivals, The Sandernacht Group.
Apparently linked to a number of high profile Italian crime families, The Gambinos first made their mark in the city early in 2002, quickly carving out a significant tract of territory in the north of the city. They monopolised protection rackets and union representation, all the while staying clear of drugs and thus avoiding the political storm that would have created. In the past they have fought in two major gang wars, one against The Daughters of the Desert, the other against The Sandernacht Group, as well as numerous other smaller, gangs. Only the recent gang war, once again against The Sandernacht Group seems to have had any effect upon them.
Led by “Grandfather Gambino”, an honorary name rather than his real one, The Gambinos take a very old fashioned approach to crime; duty and honour amongst the family, a zero tolerance policy on drugs –which explains their non–nonsense approach to The Daughters of the Desert– and a willingness to use violence to settle disputes.
The recent gang war seems to have taken its toll on The Gambinos however, and they appear to have retreated from the city. Who was responsible for this remains to be seen and whether this marks the last of their presence within the city remains to be seen.
