Established by local artist Gabriel Walker in 1998, Angel Galleries started life as a showcase for one man's work. Six years on, Angel Galleries goes from strength to strength and whilst Gabriel's work is still displayed in at least one exhibition each year the growing tourist trade and links to the local antique market have seen the gallery expand far beyond its original remit. The premises in Cross Street, Leek, have a bistro style bar downstairs whilst the main gallery is on the first floor: as well as the bistro's opening hours extending to serve evening meals, the gallery itself is a popular venue for formal functions and exhibitions can be tailored to suit organisers' design schemes if enough notice is given.
Gabriel Walker's favourite subjects are landscapes and his most sought after work features the bleak terrain typifying the Roaches area of the Peak District.
