Whilst the true past of Sir Hugh of Stafford remains shrouded in mystery (save for the rumours that have emerged in The Geheime Elche Fragments, and the veracity of them remains unknown), his recent political manoeuvres following his apparent return to the Camarilla continue to make news.
Sir Hugh made his return to politics during the events surrounding the PromEpim Virus and Shara. For only the second time in living memory, Sir Hugh entered the Court of Stoke-on-Trent and asked council of the Prince. As quickly as he had entered he left, accompanied by Prince Dimitri, Lady Rosamund Von Lichtenstein and Julian Scott-Brown. The three are rumoured to have ventured to Switzerland to seek the council of Count Von Almasey, although rumours of another, far more disturbing encounter have also been spoken of - but not by any of the participants. These events marked the re-emergence of Sir Hugh as a political figure.
Since that time, along with Count Von Almasey, Sir Hugh has been instrumental in establishing a military presence against the forces of The Black Horseman. Although his current whereabouts are unknown, it is believed that he has led a number of counter offensives against the Todeskult and may have been involved in a series of high profile actions against them as well. That he does all of this without the support of the Office of the Justicar lends further weight to the rumours of his political strength - a strength that shows no signs of abating.
