The Corrupter only really emerged as a figure of note within the city following the division of the Asharaka into pro and anti PromEpim elements. Although little is known about the reasons behind the split, it is believed that Isao Kinura may have led the rogue element in an attempt to destroy both The Prophet and The Wind at the command of Shara. If it were not for the intervention of a third, unknown party it seems likely they would have succeeded.
The Corrupter occupied an interesting position within the Asharaka. His primary role seems to have been to serve as a warning of what would happen if you allowed the demonic element of your personality take control of you. The role carried a great responsibility, whilst the example had to be made for all other Kindred to see, those who assumed the role should not allow themselves to become base in nature. Clearly, Isao failed at this part of his role.
In the following months, Isao Kinura oversaw the growth of the Asharaka within the city. During the final days of the conflict between Shara and the Court he was at the forefront of the attacks on members of the Courts holdings, almost financially ruining a number of prominent Kindred. However, following the defeat of Shara both he and the Asharaka suffered a backlash of public opinion for their actions. Isao finally committed suicide following the announcement that the company had been purchased by a European bank.
Why did Isao choose to back Shara and the PromEpim Virus? The real answer is that no one will ever really know. However, given the power that both offered, was The Corrupter finally corrupted?
